I have been blessed with many amazing friends in my lifetime, throughout each of the various chapters along the way God has given me special people that I will always hold dear in my heart. Many of them have been an inspiration and help to me in my journey to grow in God’s truth; however, there has never been a friend that has been unto me as the friend I have in my Lord and Savior. He has never left me nor forsaken me. He is my friend.
“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24
No matter where life has taken me, no matter what I have faced, He has always been there steady and sure; providing all things as I have had need. “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5
He loved me and formed me, choosing me; loving me so much that He gave His life for me. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
He gave His life for me that I might live. I want to give my life to serve Him, to be His friend. I want to be a friend to Jesus, one day I would like to hear Him say, “Welcome Home my servant, my friend.”
“Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” John 15:14
Abraham was a friend of God, because he believed in God and the finished work of Calvary that he knew would one day be complete. “And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.” James 2:23
I want this to be said of me. “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” John 15:15 I want to be a friend to Jesus, for He is my friend.
