I recently bought a vibrant healthy fig tree full of gorgeous leaves and planted it in a large pot in my backyard where unknowingly I set it up for disaster. My golden doodle discovered it and quickly dug it up leaving it mangled on the ground.
I’m not quite sure how long it had been uprooted before I found it, but it was in sad shape very wilted with leaves that were missing and others torn. In an attempt to save it I repotted it and placed it within a fenced garden area with little hope that it would survive!! For a few weeks I left it alone glancing at it occasionally but growing increasingly certain it was gone. But then one day I noticed some little green buds running up its trunk, the little fig tree after a time of what seemed to be hopelessness was beginning anew.
Sometimes we find our lives much like the mangled fig tree, the sense of hopelessness can seem overwhelming. We find our lives ripped of what once seemed to be the very substance of who we were and we lose hope it will ever be restored. But just like the fig tree, God can bring a newness of life within us and restore us to fulfill the purpose he had planned for us all along !!! In the stillness and the waiting we need to simply trust fully in his promises.

Isaiah 43:19:“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
Psalms 147:3 “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”
Psalms 27:14 “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.“
