Day and Night by Season

Day and Night by Season
Blog Post

In the crazy twists and turns of weather lately with day and night blending in what seems to be a crossover from one season to the next i was reminded of how our lives can follow a similar path.

Day by day and night by night each by their season, we find ourselves transitioning from season to season. Some seasons come silently just as they should progressing in a normal sequence of life, they bring about change just as anticipated with memories of what was and anticipation of what is yet to be; but sometimes there comes a season that take us completely by surprise leaving us lost between the day and the night. We find ourselves lost, stunned, and bewildered. But we have a Heavenly Father who is always there between the days and nights and the ever shifting seasons.

Psalm 16:7-9 “I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.”

Psalm 1:2-3 “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Regardless of the season you might find yourself, God is always faithful and true. He never leaves your side !!!

“And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8

So it is we can face Day and Night by Season . . .

More Than Enough

More Than Enough
Blog Post

I do not know if you feel the same as I do but there are so many days when I simply do not feel I am enough. Not enough to meet the needs of those looking to me for help, not enough for the questions that need to be answered, or simply not enough to accomplish the to-do-list that never seems to end. Or maybe, not enough for the work I know God is calling me to do.

Recently our pastor shared from the passage of the feeding of the five thousand in Matthew 14:14-21. Jesus faced a hungry crowd with what the world would say was simply not enough. Five loaves and two fish were not enough to even begin to feed a portion of the people that had come to hear the words of Jesus, but wait . . .

Jesus did not waver, he did not falter, he did not fear, he did not turn and run away. He took what the little boy willingly gave and it became more than enough.

It’s not about what I have within me, it’s what I have in Jesus !!!! He is always more than enough, he can take what I willingly give to him though small it may be and he can make it more than enough.

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” II Corinthians 12:9

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

So as we start the new day we can know that no matter what we may face, we are more than enough in him !!! Our strength is not enough, but his is more than enough and he has promised to strengthen us with the power of his might if we come to him !!!

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me,” Philippians 4:13

Grace, Mercy, and Peace

Grace, Mercy, and Peace
Blog Post

When reading in the book of Titus recently these three words stood out to me in Paul’s greeting to Titus, Grace, Mercy, and Peace (Titus 1:4). For a moment I paused to consider the depth of these words which can be found in greetings throughout several books in the New Testament. I think if we stop and think about them, the three words are among the greatest gifts we can desire from our Heavenly Father. I know that on a daily basis I desire his grace as I often take my eyes off of the path he has laid before me and wander off course. In the wandering I certainly need his mercy to find my way back and at the close of the day when I come before him I long for his sweet peace to fill my soul.

“To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.” Titus 1:4

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” II Timothy 2:1

“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.” Psalms 103:8

“Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.” Luke 6:36

“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3: 22-23

“Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mid is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.” Psalms 4:8

“Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.” II Thessalonians 3:16

In this world we will have constant turmoil, but in God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, we can find Grace, Mercy, and Peace.

“Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.” II John 1:3

"For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." Titus 3: 3-7

"He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. The Lord lifteth up the meek" Pdalms 147: 3-6

"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart: and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." Psalm 34:18

"Woman where are those thine accusers ? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee go, and sin no more." John 8: 10b-11
